The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University invites applications for a
Professorship for General Practice (W3)
at the Mannheim Institute of Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine (MIPH).
The successful candidate will develop and head the new department of general practice at the MIPH. He/she will represent the discipline of general practice throughout the whole spectrum of research, teaching and health care. In close collaboration with the other groups within the MIPH and the Heinrich-Lanz-Center (HLZ) for digital health he/she should be able establish novel health care structures including the use of physician assistant personnel as well as medical informatics, biometrics and data integration. Furthermore, intensive involvement in the development of the medical educational program MaReCuM to improve instruction in general practice is expected. The Medical Faculty Mannheim aims to attract ten percent of its students to a specialized teaching scheme for primary to care raise the attractiveness of a future specialization in general practice. In close cooperation with associated general practitioners in the region and the University Hospital Mannheim the successful candidate will shape this novel education program.
Applicants should have acquired a university degree in medicine, a doctoral degree, a specialization in general practice, and additional academic achievements that in accordance with § 47 para 2 of the Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act) should be demonstrated by a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated Junior professorship or comparable qualifications.
The position is a permanent W3 Professorship. If the general legal (German civil service law) and budgetary requirements are fulfilled, the appointment will, as a rule, be an appointment to a permanent professorship with civil service for life status (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit).
