The Nuremberg Institute of Technology (Nuremberg Tech) is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany and is known for its wide range of degree programs, interdisciplinary research, application-oriented teaching, as well as its international orientation.
The Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Physics and Humanities is seeking to appoint a
Professor of Technical and Business English
at pay grade W 2, as of the winter semester 2019/2020 (beginning October 1st, 2019) or later.
The successful applicant shall take responsibility for and coordinate the education in English as the technical language for various degree programs at Nuremberg Tech. Verifiable, established skill in the terminology of one or more technical areas and in business English are a prerequisite as well as verified capabilities as a level C2 or native speaker. In addition, international work experience and/or teaching experience in English as a foreign language is expected. The successful applicant will engage themselves in the academic self-administration of the Faculty and will contribute to the administration of the Language Center at Nuremberg Tech.
A completed university degree is required. Research potential is measured by the quality of the achieved research degree (doctorate) or via alternative evidence (such as an official certification that the candidate has achieved a level commensurate to a doctorate). Appropriate pedagogical skills and special accomplishments in the application or development of academic insight and methods in professional practice must be demonstrated. Candidates must have a minimum of five years professional experience subsequent to the completion of a university degree, of which at least three years must have been spent outside an academic setting. In special cases the proof of non-university professional experience can be provided by verifying that a significant part of employment occurred in cooperation between the university and non-university professional practice over a period of at least five years.
Employment may either be under civil service law or private law according to the applicable regulations and requirements.
