The Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Earth Sciences at the University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a
Full Professor of Biochemistry with a focus on Biophysical Chemistry
at pay grade W 3 (minimum salary per month: 6,683 euros) to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.
We are looking for candidates with expertise in biophysical chemistry who have established a track record of excellence and an international reputation in a
topical field of biochemistry. Applicants should have an ambitious and innovative research agenda in the areas of structure, dynamics, function and interaction
of biomacromolecules using modern spectroscopic techniques such as biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. Research topics and experimental techniques should complement
and extend the current research portfolio and foster collaborations with existing research centres (BZMB, BIMF, BZKG) and beyond. Active participation in the
Northern Bavarian NMR Centre is expected. Teaching duties will include key lectures and tutorials in biochemistry and biophysics of macromolecules (undergraduate
to postgraduate, including teacher training) as well as courses for students of related subject areas in the natural sciences and engineering. Required lectures
are generally to be held in German; additional courses may be offered in the English language to encourage international exchange.
