at Kiel University (Germany)
has a vacancy for a
W3-Professorship in “Distributed Systems”
to start at the earliest possible date.
The future holder of the position will represent the field of Distributed Systems in research and teaching.
We are looking for a person who has proven scientific excellence in the architecture, implementation, analysis, and operation of distributed systems and in at least one of the following areas:
- Architectures and concepts across the continuum from mobile to edge to cloud computing
- Distributed algorithms
- Internet of Things
- EdgeAI
- Communication networks.
Experience with distributed systems in application areas such as energy, (sustainable) mobility, the maritime industry, or the Internet of Things is expected. Participation in computer science education at the bachelor's and master's level is expected, and teaching compulsory modules (e.g., “Computer Networks”) is advantageous.
Participation in joint research projects of the Department, the Faculty of Engineering, and Kiel University is desirable. Experience in acquiring and managing projects is expected. Cooperation with industry partners or industrial activity is advantageous. International experience is an advantage, and international visibility (e.g., in the form of memberships in relevant program committees or editorial boards) is expected.
Participation in interdisciplinary clusters of excellence and other joint projects at Kiel University is expressly desired.
