At the Department of Chemistry of the RPTU, a W3 professorship for "Technical Polymer Chemistry" (m/f/d) in connection with the management of the Program Area "Polymer Chemistry" at the Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW) is available within the framework of an appointment according to the “Karlsruhe Model”.

Your tasks include:

The jobholder is expected to represent the above-mentioned field in research and teaching as well as to lead the corresponding research activities at the Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW). The program area Polymer Chemistry is to be newly established at IVW.

Your profile:

The position will be filled with a candidate from academia or industry.
The jobholder is expected to have excellent knowledge and expertise in a promising research area of application-oriented chemistry of polymers with a special focus on sustainability aspects (polymers from renewable resources, green chemistry, separation and recovery of raw materials, functionalization of polymers, modification of interfaces). Applicants are expected to have experience in collaborating with other research groups in chemistry as well as to have a proven record of acquisition of third-party funding.
We require a willingness to collaborate with other research groups at the Department of Chemistry, the working groups of IVW and other departments of RPTU. A participation in the priority area NanoKat is possible.
The job holder for the advertised professorship has to provide teaching (both in German and English) in the full range of Macromolecular Chemistry and also to participate in other courses of the department (including related practical courses) for the programs based at the department as well as the programs B.Sc./M.Sc. Bio- and Chemical Engineering, B.Sc./M.Sc. Industrial Engineering/Chemistry and B.Sc./M.Sc. Biophysics. Therefore, in addition to appropriate scientific qualifications, applicants are expected to have special teaching skills and experience in teaching as well as commitment to university committees and technology transfer.
