W1 Tenure-Track Professor for Plant Biochemistry
The position is due to commence as soon as possible.The successful candidate is expected to develop and carry out an independent research program at the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP) on plant biochemistry. The focus of the research program should be on the biochemical aspects of the composition, structure, dynamics and regulation of plant protein complexes and associated molecules.

The successful candidate will be expected to interact with other research groups at the ZMBP and the Department of Biochemistry / Pharmacy, to be actively involved in the further development of the research areas of Plant Science and Biochemistry, and to take on long-term responsibilities in teaching plant biochemistry. Interaction with other groups within the University of Tübingen’s Faculty of Science are also encouraged. This also includes active contribution to established and planned research consortia such as CRCs (TRR 356) and the excellence cluster GreenRobust.
The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to an interim evaluation, and six hours thereafter.
The successful candidate will benefit from the institutions’ outstanding centralized service units including administration, plant transformation, cytometry / FACS, greenhouses, analytics, imaging, spectromicroscopy, cryoEM and IT support.
Required qualifications include an outstanding doctorate in a pertinent field of plant biochemistry, recognizable potential for internationally acclaimed publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals, and acquisition of third-party funding, as well as teaching experience. For the initial phase, knowledge of German is not required for teaching, but will be expected later on. The appointment prerequisites of § 51 LHG apply. Those who have completed a habilitation or have a comparable qualification will be excluded.
This Tenure-Track position is subject to an interim evaluation after four years and a final evaluation after six years. If the final evaluation after six years is positive, this professorship will be upgraded to a full (W3) professorship with no re-advertising of the position. Applicants for a Tenure-Track professorship with a PhD from Tübingen must have changed universities after completing their doctorates or have worked in academia and/or research for at least two years somewhere other than the University of Tübingen.
