The University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of a

University Professor
of
Business Administration with a Focus on Management Accounting

at the Department of Organization and Learning at the Faculty of Business and Management.
This position is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities’ Act (Universitätsgesetz - UG), based on a civil-law employment contract with the University on the basis of the Salaried Employees Act (Angestelltengesetz). The contract is permanent, with full-time employment (100%).
Responsibilities
The professor shall represent the field of management accounting both in research and teaching.
The professor shall conduct research in the area of management accounting, preferably drawing on qualitative empirical methodology. Topics in this area of research include, for example, the design, use and effects of financial and non-financial control systems in profit and non-profit organisations, as well as the development and dissemination of calculative techniques and practices in different social contexts. The research agenda should complement and support existing research in the Department of Organisation and Learning. It should help further develop the research center "Accounting Theory and Research" and the research area “Economy, Politics and Society”, and contribute to developing the research profile of both the Department and the Faculty of Business and Management. The professor will be expected to publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals, cooperate with national and international research and/or project partners, and obtain research funding.
Upon appointment, the professor will teach in the Faculty’s undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs, with teaching in both, German and English languages. Active participation in the strategic development and governance of the Faculty of Business and Management is also expected.
Employment requirements include
  1. a degree in higher education in Austria or the equivalent abroad, pertinent to the position;
  2. a relevant habilitation or an equivalent qualification (e.g., Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor);
  3. publications in leading international peer-reviewed academic journals;
  4. participation in the relevant international scholarly discourses;
  5. experience in the acquisition and management of competitive third-party funding;
  6. excellent teaching skills;
  7. international scientific experience pertinent to the discipline;
  8. the ability to lead teams in research and teaching;
  9. the ability to supervise bachelor, master or PhD theses;
  10. the ability to teach in German and English; German language proficiency is not required initially; however, the successful candidate is expected to attain a proficiency level of B2 within two years.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, professors are classified under remuneration group A1. The base salary for a full-time professorship is €6,713.30 paid 14 times per year. Depending on qualification and experience a higher salary and facilities may be negotiated with the Rector.
