Your personal sphere of influence:

As a Praedoc University Assistant, you will join the team in the Department of Liturgical Studies and Sacramental Theology at the Department of Historical Theology within the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Vienna (Department Chair: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Feulner) and take on responsibilities such as actively participating in teaching as well as conducting your own research and publishing work. In addition, the department contributes to the internationally renowned open-access journal (Ex Fonte). Your future tasks:

You will actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means:

• • Preparing a dissertation in our Department of Liturgical Studies and Sacramental Theology (signing a dissertation agreement within 12–18 months)
  • Your own scholarly activities (primarily writing a dissertation) will be supported and encouraged.
  • Participation in the department’s research projects and scholarly publications
  • Presentations at conferences
  • Participation in and independent teaching of courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Co-supervision of students
  • Assistance in organizing conferences and study trips
  • Participation in teaching and research administration
  • Support for the open-access journal Ex Fonte

This is part of your personality:

Requirements:

• Completed master’s degree or diploma in Catholic Theology
• Excellent written and spoken German
• Good written and spoken English
• Good knowledge of Latin
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for results
• Comprehensive computer skills, particularly in MS Office
• You are a team player with strong social and communication skills.

Desirable qualifications:

• Completed diploma or master’s thesis in the field of Liturgical Studies
• Knowledge of an additional modern foreign language
• Knowledge of the Roman liturgy
• Knowledge of Hebrew and Ancient Greek
• Research interest in the processes of Inculturation in the liturgy
• Interest and experience in the fields of liturgy and ecumenism

What we offer:

The contract term for this position is 4 years. The employment contract, initially limited to 1.5 years, will be automatically extended to 4 years unless the employer issues a notice of non-renewal within the first 12 months.
