Your academic environment:

A postdoctoral position is available starting November 1 at the Department of Intercultural Philosophy in the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Vienna.
In addition to the philosophy of religion, the department's core research areas include philosophical anthropology and the history of philosophy. The department is actively involved in the research priorities of intercultural, comparative, and global philosophy. Teaching includes introductions to the fundamental disciplines of philosophy, with a special focus on the contributions of religious traditions of thought.
The department is currently undergoing personnel changes. Starting in September, Professor Isabella Guanzini and Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Sarhan Dhouib will join and lead the existing team.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• Independently conducting courses in accordance within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, including administering exams
• Academic advancement through the preparation and completion of a habilitation thesis
• International publishing and lecturing activities
• Supervising students
• Participation in research, teaching, and administrative tasks at the department
• Supporting the department’s academic publication projects

Your profile:

• Doctorate/PhD in Philosophy or an equivalent qualification
• Outstanding dissertation
• Basic knowledge of Judeo-Christian theology and philosophy
• Experience in academic teaching
• Didactic skills and experience with e-learning
• Good IT skills (e.g., (MS) Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and video conferencing systems)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Very good knowledge of German and English, written and spoken
• Ability to work in a team, as well as strong social and communication skills
  
  

The following are desirable:

• Experience participating in research projects
• Research activity in the field of medieval philosophy
• Research experience in the field of philosophy of religion
• Publications in the field of philosophy of religion in renowned, peer-reviewed journals in the field
• International experience giving lectures
• Familiarity with academic procedures and structures
• Experience abroad
