Your personal sphere of play:

The Department of Social Ethics at the Institute for Systematic Theology and Ethics (Faculty of Catholic Theology) is seeking to fill a full-time (50%) postdoctoral position for a term of 4 years. We are looking for a researcher who conducts high-level research in the field of Christian social ethics and is pursuing an academic career.

The Social Ethics Division conducts research on questions of just social organization using methods from the humanities and philosophy, as well as drawing on empirical social science approaches. In addition to the fundamental questions of Christian social ethics and political ethics, the work focuses on topics such as technology (digitalization, automation) and society, (normative) social theories, media ethics, political ethics, and business ethics.

Your future tasks:

You will actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means:

• You will develop an independent research profile.
• You will contribute to research projects and academic studies.
• You will publish internationally and give presentations.
• You will apply for research grants and secure external funding.
• You will work on your habilitation or on work equivalent to a habilitation.
• You will independently teach courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
• You will mentor your students.
• You will participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
• You will perform administrative tasks in research and teaching.

• A completed doctorate/PhD in the field of christian social ethics
• High academic aspirations
• Research interests in the field of ethics and society
• Expertise in the field of christian social ethics
• Teaching skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Team player with strong social/communication skills

Research Areas:

You should have a proven track record in at least one of these research areas (e.g., through a doctorate/PhD):

• Theology: Christian Social Ethics
• Theology: Moral Theology

Education:

You should hold a university degree (PhD) in:

• Catholic Theology 

You must demonstrate very good proficiency (B2) in German or English. You must be willing to acquire very good (B2) German proficiency within 2 years.
