We are looking for you:

Publication Assistant (m/f/x)

in Munich.

About us:

The Cluster of Excellence ‘Cross-Cultural Philology’ at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) uses a cross-cultural approach to examine philological practices and cultural dynamics over a period of five millennia. It will bring to light the richness of philological traditions in their mutual interaction in the Near and Middle East, in East Asia, on the Indian subcontinent, in North, East and West Africa, and in Europe. This comparison will reveal specific similarities and differences, and continuities and discontinuities, yielding insights far beyond the current state of the art.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • To actively accompany the publication processes within the Excellence Cluster. You will support the planning, implementation, and visibility of scientific and non-scientific publications both within and outside the cluster structures.
  • To assist in implementing a digital publication strategy and keep track of existing as well as new publication channels (both online and print).
  • To work closely with researchers on the content and language preparation of publications, including translations, with special consideration of a potential international readership.
  • To efficiently realise and strategically position publication projects with organisational skill and editorial expertise.
  • To advise on the selection of suitable publication formats and platforms and contribute your editorial expertise to the design, proofreading, and layout of scientific publications.

Your qualifications:

  • A completed university degree (Master’s, Diplom, teaching qualification), ideally with a doctoral degree. Additionally, organisational experience of any kind, preferably in the field of publications.
  • Experience in managing and administering scientific projects as well as with scientific publications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team are highly advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently, in a structured and responsible manner.
  • A willingness to collaborate interdisciplinarily.
  • Fluent German and/or English language skills.

Benefits:

We are offering a manager position, limited until 31.05.2029, with a pay scale of TV-L E13 (100%) and with the option to extend until the end of the first funding period.
