Our profile

TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences and is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, promotion of young scientists and transfer.

The Department of Physics combines excellent research in the focus areas of particle physics, condensed matter physics, atomic / molecular and optical physics and medical physics with a modern and future-oriented teaching concept. It maintains national and international networks in both research and teaching and is successful in attracting third-party funding.

Profile of the professorship

The research area of this professorship is experimental particle physics with accelerators with a focus on data analyses in flavor physics. The successful candidate will participate in research networks and cooperations within and outside TU Dortmund University. You have demonstrated your research excellence in the field covered by the professorship, in particular with contributions to data analyses in flavor physics, through continuous international publications in recognized peerreviewed journals, especially in recent years. You have experience in the acquisition of third-party funding (independent acquisition or participation in the application process). Your research activities are in line with the research area particle physics of the department and have the potential for strengthening the Cluster of Excellence “Color meets Flavor”. Additionally, you are willing and able to teach in English and have the potential for teaching excellence. Social and leadership skills and the willingness to participate in academic self-administration complete your profile. Moreover, the recruitment requirements in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine- Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG) apply.
