The position will be filled on a salaried basis, unless the appointed person is already a civil servant in Germany with “Beamten” status. The professorship is made available for a period of six years according to section 50 subsection 2 sentence 1 no. 5 of the Baden-Württemberg state law covering higher education and specifically the promotion of highly gifted junior researchers.
The successful candidate will advance interdisciplinary research on imaging of the brain in neurological diseases (with a focus on epileptology) in close collaboration with the department for neuroradiology.
Solid expertise in the field of interdisciplinary imaging of the brain is required for a successful research program, demonstrated by relevant publications and successful acquisition of third-party funding. Collaboration with additional research groups in the area of clinical and experimental neuroscience, participation in joint funding initiatives of the Faculty of Medicine as well as adjacent institutes in Tübingen is explicitly welcomed.
The position holder will also work clinically as a senior physician within the Clinic for Neurology. The focus will be on epileptology.
Committed and active participation in teaching in the degree programs of the Faculty of Medicine, particularly with regard to innovative curricula and modern teaching formats, is expected; ideally, this will be complemented by highly evaluated teaching experience. The teaching obligation is nine semester hours per week (SWS).
Prerequisites for employment are a license to practice medicine and the specialist qualification in neurology or an international equivalent which is recognized as equivalent by the Baden-Württemberg Medical Association (Landesärztekammer). Also required are postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
