The junior professorship, funded by the Centre for Cultural Inquiry (ZKF) at the University of Konstanz, is based at the Department of History, Sociology, Sports Science and Empirical Educational Research in the Faculty of Humanities. It is limited to a maximum of 6 years. The position is to be filled from April 1, 2026 .The junior professorship is to develop an anthropological research perspective in the thematic field of environmental humanities.
The junior professorship contributes to teaching in the BA Sociology and the MA Anthropology and Sociology with a teaching load of 4 hours per week (until the interim evaluation) and 6 hours per week (after a successful interim evaluation). Courses can also be taught in the MA program Global European Studies.
Recruitment requirements are as follows: a university degree (MA) and an outstanding dissertation (Dr. phil / PhD) in social and cultural anthropology or a related discipline. Teaching experience and demonstrated teaching skills as well as international visibility (in particular publications in international journals and/or with renowned publishers) are also desirable. The position holder is expected to become actively involved in the interdisciplinary research and work contexts of the Centre for Cultural Inquiry (ZKF) at the University of Konstanz.
In all other respects, the hiring requirements for junior professorships follow § 51 para. 2,3 Landeshochschulgesetz. Details of junior professorships at the University of Konstanz, particularly the interim and final evaluation, are governed by § 51 para. 7 Landeshochschulgesetz and the procedural regulations for junior professorships and junior lectureships without tenure track (§§ 51, 51a LHG), available online.
