At the Faculty of Philosophy III, Institute of Pedagogy at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the following position is to be filled by 01.04.2026:Full Professor (W3)
We are seeking to appoint an individual with an outstanding academic profile in the field of adult and
continuing vocational education. The successful candidate is expected to represent the field
comprehensively in both teaching and research, and to contribute to its further development through both
theoretical and empirical approaches.
The professorship is expected to focus on adult learning in the context of socio-political challenges and transformations, as well as on the professional design and support and organizational structures that accompany such processes. The position should contribute to the university’s research profiles "Knowledge Cultures and Education" and/or "Transformation" and be willing to collaborate with the Center for School and Educational Research (ZSB) and/or the Center for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS).
Applicants are expected to have a proven track record of theory driven empirical research in the field of adult and continuing vocational education. Experience in securing third-party funding and in interdisciplinary collaboration is required. Applicants must hold an above-average doctoral degree in educational science and demonstrate additional academic achievements in the relevant profile area of the professorship (e.g., habilitation or equivalent academic qualification). The teaching responsibilities associated with the position are part of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Educational Science. The successful candidate must be able to teach in German. Furthermore, a willingness to participate in academic self-governance and committee work is expected. Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.
Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Particular emphasis is placed on a habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition. Candidates are expected to have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
