Your responsibility:
Research on education in the digital world and on media education, taking into account the following content:

• Theoretical perspectives on media education for adolescents and young adults under the social and technological conditions of the digital transformation
• Empirical analysis of the use of analogue and digital media in school and out-of-school educational spaces and their significance for working and living environments
• Media didactic concepts and their critical reflection from a social, technological and pedagogical-practical perspective

Teaching subject-related content for nine teaching hours in the bachelor's and master's teacher training degree programs aimed at teaching at vocational schools, integrated secondary schools and academic high schools primarily in the areas of educational science. Leading participation in further training and continuing education programs for university teachers in teacher training programs at TU Berlin as well as for teachers at Berlin schools.

Further responsibilities include leading and managing the chair and its staff; supporting the advancement of junior scholars, women, and diversity; knowledge transfer; initiatives to promote internationalization; gender and diversity competence, and sustainability-oriented action; as well as committee work.

Your profile:
Applicants must fulfill the appointment requirements pursuant to Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG). These include a degree in a relevant discipline such as education, cultural, social and educational sciences or a related subject with a corresponding focus on media education; a proven aptitude for scientific work, usually demonstrated by a good doctorate in education or educational science; additional academic achievements (e.g. a positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent); and an aptitude for teaching demonstrated by a teaching portfolio (for further information see: https://www.tu.berlin/go209650/). Applicants should also have three years’ experience of working in schools or comparable practical experience.

Notable research on media education in social-digital change with a focus on adolescents and/or young adults is expected. Both theoretical and empirical work on questions of media education and media use in school and non-school settings as well as in the area of media didactic concepts and questions of heterogeneity are desirable.

Candidates should also be able to offer innovative ideas for shaping the new academic chair at the Institute of Education as well as for further and advanced training in media education for teacher training instructors at TU Berlin; these are to be presented in each case in the teaching and research concept or the applicant’s statement on their compatibility for the position.

Experience in the management of research groups as well as the acquisition of third-party funding projects, especially DFG projects, is also desired. Applicants are expected to contribute to academic self-governance. Appropriate experience is desirable.

Experience in the field of personnel management, the advancement of junior scholars and knowledge transfer are as much a feature of your profile as gender and diversity competence and sensitivity to sustainability issues.
