The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for an
Associate Professor of Molecular Tumor Virology
(salary group W2)
at the Harald zur Hausen Institute of Virology. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint an internationally recognized leader with experience in heading a research group and with an independent research profile in the areas of replication, transmission, pathogenesis, prevention, or therapy of human tumor viruses. The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in the research networks at the Faculty of Medicine (collaborative research centers, research training groups, research groups). The professorship will contribute to teaching in the degree programs Medicine, Molecular Medicine, and Integrated Immunology at FAU’s Faculty of Medicine. We expect the successful candidate to introduce new and innovative teaching formats and content based on the research focus of the professorship.
Other degree programs offered by the Faculty of Medicine include Dentistry, Master in Conservative Dentistry, Logopedics, Midwifery Sciences, Advanced Immunomedicine, Medical Engineering, Master in Advanced Healthcare, Master in Health and Medical Management, and Master of Health Business Administration.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record in research and teaching. They are required to have a university degree and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and additional postdoctoral qualifications (either a habilitation or equivalent academic qualifications). These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as assistant professor).
The successful candidate is expected to carry out administrative duties and take a proactive approach to raising third-party funding. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are preferred.
