The Medical Faculty of Heidelberg and Heidelberg University Hospital are receiving funding from the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) to establish the program “ACTION – Advanced Clinician Scientists in Translational Innovation.” ACTION aims to train outstanding and internationally competitive physicians in translational research and thereby sustainably strengthen the development of innovative diagnostic, therapeutic, and technological solutions within the four research focus areas of the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg: Cardiovascular Medicine, Neurosciences, Translational and Individualized Oncology, and Infectious Diseases.

Your profile
- You are pursuing an academic career as a Clinician Scientist and already hold a specialist qualification (completed no more than eight years ago) as well as a habilitation or equivalent academic achievement.
- You hold a German medical license (Approbation) or legal authorization to practice medicine in Germany.
- You are scientifically active in one of the research areas of cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, or infectious diseases and have an innovative project idea for a translational research project with clinical relevance.
- You have at least one last authorship in a recognized scientific journal and at least one competitively acquired third‑party grant as Principal Investigator.
We offer
- Funding of 50 % of your position as an Advanced Clinician Scientist (protected research time) for up to six years; the remaining 50 % of the position will be financed by the hosting institution. In addition, personnel, material, and travel resources are available.
- An individualized qualification program focusing on leadership, career development, and translation / transfer, complemented by structured mentoring.
- An excellent scientific environment at a unique and internationally renowned research location.
