The Comprehensive Cancer Center Augsburg (CCCA) is part of the CCC WERA Alliance of the Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Würzburg, Erlangen, Regensburg, and Augsburg. This alliance has the status of a Top Oncology Center of the Deutsche Krebshilfe and is part of the WERA site of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT). The Augsburg site is also part of the Bavarian Center for Cancer Research (BZKF).
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Augsburg is seeking to make the following appointment at the earliest possible starting date.University Professor (m/f/d)
The appointment is as a tenured public servant.
The professorship involves establishing and managing the Laboratory for Experimental Uro-Oncology at the Department of Urology. Applicants are therefore expected to have an independent scientific profile combined with a high level of expertise in the field of experimental research on solid tumors, with a focus on translatability into uro-oncology. The establishment of this new research area at the Medical Faculty of Augsburg offers the successful candidate unique opportunities to further develop their own research profile. Methodological focus should be in the field of proteogenomics and/or immuno-oncology. Experience in the application of preclinical models for predicting therapeutic response or resistance (e.g., research on organoids) and in the field of liquid biopsy is an advantage. The application should demonstrate how the candidate's work ties in with the existing research priorities of the Institute for Theoretical Medicine (ITM) and/or one or both of the faculty's overarching research priorities, MIS and EHS. Experience in development situations and in leading your own research team is an advantage.
The University of Augsburg is seeking to recruit a distinguished, visible research personality with leadership and networking skills who has a proven track record of excellent research achievements in the advertised field and excellent networking skills in national and international committees, professional associations, and study groups in the field. Important selection criteria include the ability and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary manner in research networks, high-level publications, and the ability to attract competitive third-party funding. Participation in the acquisition of collaborative research projects is an advantage. Due to the position holder's involvement in medical education, a particular commitment and broad experience in modern competence-based teaching, including the use of blended learning formats, are desirable and should be reflected in a specific teaching concept. Proof of a teaching qualification is desirable.
Recruitment requirements for the professorship are a completed degree in human medicine or natural sciences and several years of work as a scientist. In addition, pedagogical aptitude, proven teaching experience, special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a doctorate, as well as the habilitation or proof of equivalent scientifically relevant achievements in the advertised subject area which may also have been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or outside academia, are required. Leadership of a junior research group is considered an equivalent academic achievement under the conditions specified in Art. 98 Para 10 Sentence 5 BayHIG.
Appointment as a public servant can only take place so long as one is not over 52 years of age. Otherwise, employment is possible within the framework of an employment contract under private law.
