In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the Department of Computer Science, the following professorship is to be filled as soon as possible:W3-University Professorship (f/m/d)
We expect you to be willing and interested in collaborating with the working groups in this subject area, the department’s strategic focus areas (data science, computer security, and domain-specific computing), and beyond.
Scientific qualification should be demonstrated through publications at leading international conferences and in software engineering journals. Applicants should have experience in basic teaching on relevant topics. We expect experience in acquiring and executing externally funded projects. We expect the position holder to be willing to participate in applications for large-scale projects, especially interdisciplinary projects, to actively participate in shaping new projects, and to integrate into existing research institutions. Paderborn University offers excellent opportunities for this with research institutions such as the Software Innovation Campus Paderborn (SICP), the Joint Artificial Intelligence Institute (JAII), and the Paderborn Centre for Parallel Computing (PC²), potentially in leading roles. There is also the possibility for collaborations with the Heinz Nixdorf Institute (HNI) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design (IEM). Furthermore, we expect a willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration, relevant teaching experience, and the ability to teach courses in English and, at least in the medium term, also in German.
With 11 interdisciplinary research institutions and participation in 5 collaborative research centers (4 in spokesperson function), 1 DFG research group, 6 graduate colleges and 2 DFG priority programs, Paderborn University is the ideal environment for implementing bold research ideas. Successful applicants should cover the topics of the existing software engineering professorships – Secure Software Engineering, Empirical Software Engineering, and Software Resilience – with constructive aspects of software engineering (e. g., requirements engineering, software architecture and variability, model-driven software construction, or programming paradigms for improving software quality) and have an outstanding track record in one or more of these areas.We expect you to be willing and interested in collaborating with the working groups in this subject area, the department’s strategic focus areas (data science, computer security, and domain-specific computing), and beyond.
