UNIVERSITY PROFESSORSHIP W3 (M/F/D) IN ANATOMY
to be filled. The future position holder is expected to represent the field of Anatomy in both research and teaching. The goal is to gain new insights into functional anatomy and the interactions between different organ systems, and to better understand their significance for neurological health and/or cancer diseases. The department is characterized by a broad methodological spectrum that employs modern molecular and microscopic techniques, which are to be meaningfully expanded. The future position holder will, together with the two other departments of the Institute of Anatomy, assume a key role in the comprehensive anatomical education of medical students. The professorship is a central element of anatomical teaching and will have a strong presence both in the preclinical curriculum and in interdisciplinary degree programs. The further development and implementation of innovative teaching concepts is expected. In addition, the position holder is expected to integrate into the faculty’s research focus areas (oncology, neuroscience, and protein science). Ideally, a willingness to do so will be demonstrated through relevant prior work. Clinical and scientific collaborations with institutions of the Faculty of Medicine and the UK RUB in the existing research focus areas and developmental fields, as well as participation in current and future collaborative research projects, are desired. A positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation, or equivalent academic achievements, as well as proof of particular aptitude for academic teaching, are required. In addition, a willingness to participate in academic self-governance is expected. The appointment requirements in accordance with § 36 ff. of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia must be fulfilled. The following are also expected:- a high level of commitment to teaching;
- a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary scientific work;
- the willingness and proven ability to secure substantial third-party funded research projects;
- board certification in the field of anatomy (specialist in anatomy);
- leadership experience or demonstrated leadership skills;
- A high level of qualification in medical didactics, practical experience, and outstanding competence in organizing and delivering anatomical teaching in macroscopic and microscopic anatomy as well as neuroanatomy are also expected.
