University assistant predoctoral

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant prae doc you will join the new team of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Claudia Wutscher, BA and take on tasks such as active participation in teaching as well as in research and publication projects. The team will focus on Austrian and European public law.

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

• Dissertation writing: you conduct research on your topic, spend one third of your working time on your dissertation or other independent research activities with the aim of deepening your own professional and scientific knowledge.
• You collaborate in research, teaching and administrative tasks at the Institute.
• You participate in audits and evaluation activities.
• You are involved in student support.
• You are entrusted with the independent execution of courses and holding of examinations.

This is part of your personality:

• Degree: you have completed your diploma/master's degree in law, which entitles you to study for a doctorate, or an equivalent qualification with a focus on Austrian and European public law.
• Knowledge and areas of interest: You have demonstrable knowledge and focus of interest in Austrian or European public law, ideally through experience in institute operations and/or teaching experience. In addition, you already have experience or at least willingness in using multimedia teaching and learning formats.
• You bring specific interests in the research areas focused on in the department (public economic law, law of the eocnomic and monetary union, digital (markets) law, banking and financial markets law, budgetary law, sustainability law, fundamental rights, interplay between EU law and national law). You already have specific ideas for topics, or can envisage writing your dissertation in one of these areas.
• You have an excellent command of German (at least C1 level) as well as knowledge of foreign languages (English at least C1 level; knowledge of other languages would be an advantage) and, ideally, have already gained experience abroad.
• You have qualified computer skills in connection with the preparation of legal texts and ready-to-publish manuscripts.
• You work independently, thoroughly, and are both a good communicator and team player.
