University assistant predoctoral at the Department of Contemporary History

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant prae doc at the Department of Contemporary History, you will contribute to research and teaching within the research area of the professorship of Cultural, Knowledge and Gender History.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• Independently holding classes (in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement) as part of the Bachelor’s, Teacher Training and Master’s degree programmes in History.
• Contributing to the editing or publication of academic works and other activities of the Chair.
• Contributing to events within the Chair’s remit, to university administrative matters and to the organisation of teaching.
• Further academic qualification (dissertation, publications, conference participation, etc.) is expected.

This is part of your personality:

• A completed diploma or master's programme in History or Cultural Studies
• Substantial, demonstrable knowledge of contemporary gender history or the history of knowledge (for example, through an excellent Master’s thesis in these fields or publications), as well as a dissertation proposal in the field of contemporary cultural, knowledge or gender history, preferably with a thematic focus on the history of human rights, migration or social movements, and using approaches of transnational and/or entangled history 
• Ability to assist in communicating research findings to the general public
• Very good command of German and English; knowledge of a further foreign language is desirable
• IT skills
• Teamwork skills
• organisational skills

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3,776.10 (based on full-time, paid 14 times a year) will be increased if we can take your professional experience into account.

The post is advertised for a period of 4 years; however, the employment contract is initially limited to 1.5 years and will be automatically extended to a total of 4 years, provided the employer does not issue a notice of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.
