Research Scientist
Optimised Formability of Magnesium Nanocomposites
Reference code: 50076140_4 – 2022/WD 1
Commencement date: as soon as possible
Work location: Geesthacht (near Hamburg)
Application deadline: March 9th, 2022
At the Institute of Material and Process Design, lightweight
materials are being developed as part of the project
"OptUm-MagNa – Optimised Formability of Magnesium
Nanocomposites", approved by the Federal Ministry of Economics
and Climate Action, which extend their range of applications
into the area of semi-finished products for forming through the
addition of ceramic nanoparticles. This serves the increased use
of magnesium alloys in the automotive and aerospace industries,
resulting in lower fuel consumption due to the reduction of
vehicle weight.
Equality of opportunity is an important part of our personnel
policy. We would therefore strongly encourage qualified women to
apply for the position. The position can be filled part-time in
principle.
Your tasks
You will develop the magnesium nanocomposite at Hereon through a
hybrid process. In the course of the project, the material will
be transferred to suitability for industrial forming processes.
In doing so, you will investigate the materials by means of
mechanical testing, optical and electron microscopy as well as
other methods.
You will optimise the processes for producing and manufacturing
the materials.
You contribute to the cross-industry transfer of
knowledge and technology by producing films or PR material that
is shown at trade fairs, industrial workshops or scientific
colloquia.
You publish scientific results in peer-reviewed
journals and at international conferences.
You cooperate and
communicate with the partners (SME and university) in this
collaborative project in a way that is beneficial to the success
of the project.
Your profile
-
university degree (diploma or master's degree) and ideally a
doctorate in materials science, materials engineering, physics
or a comparable field of study
