The Institute of Innovation Economics welcomes applications for the following position starting at the earliest possible date:Research Assistant (Doctoral Student)
in the field of Innovation Economics
The fixed-term position is limited to 36 months. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the PhD program of the Faculty.
In addition, we are looking for a candidate with the following:
Part-time employment as well as remote work (mobile work, work from home) can be arranged upon request. We support employees with balancing work and family life, through services such as back-up childcare, childcare during school holidays, and parent-child offices, as well as providing individual advice regarding family responsibilities and caring for dependants.
To promote health and well-being among employees, we offer an extensive sports programme with over 100 different sports, as well as a fitness centre with a sauna and climbing space. Health management measures, such as courses on stress management, good nutrition and relaxation, aim to ensure a healthy workplace.

The fixed-term position is limited to 36 months. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the PhD program of the Faculty.
Your role
We are looking for a highly motivated doctoral student, who is interested in conducting empirical research in innovation economics. Possible research topics include path-dependencies in innovation or gender bias in the innovation process. The applicant is expected to contribute to the research at our institute, i.e., to participate in the design and execution of research projects, to present research results at national and international conferences and to prepare scientific publications. Additionally, you will be involved in the teaching (in English and German language) and will provide support in administrative tasks of the institute.Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate must hold a university science degree (Master) in economics or a related field (e.g., psychology, management or mathematics).In addition, we are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Strong interest in research on the behavioural aspects of innovation economics
- Documented excellent academic achievements are desirable
- Ideally, applicants have experience in conducting experimental and/or empirical research
- Very good English and German language skills are advantageous
