The Department of Educational Science invites applications for a
Professorship (Open Rank: W3 or W2 Tenure Track to W3) for educational science with a focus on social pedagogy
to be occupied. The qualification professorship is initially limited to six years.
Tasks:
The chair holder (m/f/d) represents the field of social pedagogy at the Institute of Educational Science. As the largest sub-discipline and important field of educational science, social pedagogy plays a central role in research and teaching at the Institute. We are looking for a scientifically proven personality who represents social pedagogy in its entire broad spectrum and profiles the professorship – in addition to theoretical and historical approaches – through empirical research activities.Profile:
Previous work should include relevant contributions in at least three of the following subject areas:
- Addressees of social pedagogy
- Professionalism in social pedagogy
- Organisations of social pedagogy
- Social perspectives of social pedagogy
In addition, applicants are expected to have dealt with the topic of social inequality in an academic manner. An academic interest in intersectional and international perspectives on social pedagogy is also desirable.
A university degree in educational science (Diplom, Master's or equivalent) and a very good relevant doctorate with a clear focus on educational science/social pedagogy are required. Additional relevant achievements after completion of the doctorate in the field of social pedagogy/educational science (habilitation with venia legendi in educational science/social pedagogy or achievements that can be recognised as habilitation equivalent in the sense of a venia legendi in educational science/social pedagogy) are also required.
We are looking for a person who is recognised through nationally and internationally visible publications in leading relevant journals and research activities. Relevant contributions to theory formation in social pedagogy and a proven empirical research profile in the field of social pedagogy are expected, as well as the willingness to participate in existing and planned research foci of the department and the university. In particular, research perspectives should be developed with the institutes inclusion research group or with the research group for extracurricular youth education. Leadership skills, experience in the successful acquisition of research-related third-party funding and national and international networking are expected, as is conceptual involvement in the BA and MA Educational Science degree programmes in their breadth of content, especially in the focal areas assigned to the professorship.
Additional criteria for the W3 professorship are the successful acquisition and management of research projects on the basis of competitively acquired third-party funding (e. g. DFG, BMBF, EU), English-language publications in relevant international journals with peer review as well as leadership experience/staff responsibility in academic work contexts. work contexts.
The employment requirements of §§ 67 and 68 HessHG apply. For the Tenure Track professorship especially § 70 HessHG applies. If the requirements under civil service law are met, the appointment will be made as a temporary civil servant for a period of six years in case of the Tenure Track professorship. In the event of a positive evaluation of professional, pedagogical and personal aptitude, the appointment is made as a civil servant for life, combined with the transfer of a W3 professorship. High-quality teaching and supervision of students are also required, which should be demonstrated by corresponding evaluation results and/or university didactic qualifications. The teaching language is German (if the applicants first language is not German, German language skills at C1 level must be proven), the ability to teach in English and to write specialist texts in English is desirable as part of the university's internationalisation strategy.
