The incumbent will represent the area of enology with a strong focus on process-oriented and applied research and teaching. A solid knowledge of analytical and process-oriented methods, experience in planning and conducting research projects, and the ability to actively shape research in an interdisciplinary environment are expected.
In teaching, the position represents the field of enology in German- and English language bachelor and master degree programs at the university with a teaching load of 9 semester hours per week (e.g., Technologie der Weinbereitung, Advanced Enology). The teaching approach should be applied and focused on problem solving skills. Active participation in the further development of the curriculum is expected.
It is also expected that the incumbent will develop a successful extension program and establish and maintain strong connections with the industry as well as participate in national and international professional associations and organizations.
Because of its close connection to the new Beverage Technology Center and collaboration with the Departments of Viticulture, Grapevine Breeding, Beverage Research, Microbiology, and Biochemistry, the position is uniquely integrated into the interdisciplinary teaching and research at HGU. The position benefits from an excellent infrastructure and conditions for teaching, research, and knowledge transfer, including its own experimental pilot plant, an affiliated winery, and highly skilled staff.
A university degree in enology, beverage, food, or process technology, or related fields, as well as a doctoral degree is required. We are looking for an actively engaged individual who can demonstrate excellent scientific achievements and is pedagogically qualified to teach. Experience in leading and motivating staff is desirable.
