About us

Kühne Logistics University (KLU), one of Germany’s top research-oriented private business schools and accredited by AACSB, is looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Logistics and Business Analytics for their new campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The position is a full-time appointment to be filled at the earliest possible date.

Founded in 2010, Kühne Logistics University (KLU) is a private, internationally accredited, and highly ranked business school in Hamburg, Germany, specializing in logistics and supply chain management. Following the successful launch of our Asia campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in fall 2025, we are now hiring our first professors that support our research and teaching activities in Vietnam. In so doing, we follow our mission to contribute to local capacity building and knowledge transfer in the field of logistics, operations and supply chain management. Our programs are designed to prepare leaders for the supply chain challenges of a global business landscape.

KLU Saigon represents Kühne Logistics University’s pioneering step into Asia, establishing a new campus in Vietnam’s economic hub. Since its launch, KLU Saigon has built bridges between research excellence and regional impact through initiatives such as the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition with EuroCham, the Humanitarian Logistics Hackathon, and multiple partnerships with universities and industries across Southeast Asia. Joining KLU Saigon means contributing to a new academic footprint that connects education, research, and practice while shaping the next generation of leaders in logistics, operations, and sustainability.

KLU is a state-recognized university with the right to grant PhDs. With its AACSB accreditation, it ranks among the top 5% of business schools and management universities worldwide, with a dedicated focus on logistics, operations, and supply chain management.

Your Responsibilities

The professor will excel by conducting original and impactful research in their chosen area. As such, we expect from candidates not only commitment to publish their research in top-tier journals (see here for the KLU Journal List), but also a willingness to create scientific and societal impact with that research.

Teaching will cover KLU-Saigon’s courses in the areas of logistics and business analytics, including the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in operations and digitalization of supply chains. Like other faculty, the professor will be expected to participate in industry and university service activities. An interest in applying for third-party funding is also expected in the role of Research Director for KLU Saigon’s planned research center.

Your qualifications

Applicants need to have completed a PhD in operations management, logistics, operations research, industrial engineering, economics, or a related discipline. We are looking for a candidate with evidence of research excellence and the ability to publish in top-tier journals to enrich and expand the diverse research portfolio of our faculty. At KLU, we are dedicated to nurturing a collaborative and interdisciplinary academic culture. Applicants should have developed some data science expertise by applying advanced analytics, statistical methods, and/or machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights and knowledge from data within the domain of operations.

In teaching, we seek a candidate with a strong ability and interest to translate research insights into engaging and interactive lectures. Candidates need to be fluent in English as all courses at KLU are taught in English. Vietnamese is a big advantage, while not an absolute requirement. Candidates familiar with and experience of working in the South-East Asia region will be preferred. We particularly encourage candidates who are interested in entrepreneurially co-shaping KLU’s Saigon Campus, a key element in KLU’s internationalization strategy, to apply.

We offer

KLU is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a culturally diverse, inclusive, and pluralistic intellectual community. With all current and upcoming faculty openings we look to further increase our diversity and inclusiveness. Qualified applicants will be considered without regard to gender, ethnicity, nationality, family status or physical or mental disabilities. At KLU, we value the compatibility of family and career KLU will offer an internationally competitive salary, which will be commensurate with experience, a very generous annual research budget and administrative support. See information about our tenure and promotion process here. The teaching load is attractive, with 150-200 teaching hours per year as the nominal load (1 teaching hour is equivalent to 45 minutes), and may include teaching at the undergraduate, master as well as executive education level.

Located in KLU Saigon Campus, the professor will have close connections with faculty in KLU Hamburg and participate in faculty activities such as research seminars and PhD supervision as well as other appropriate events in Hamburg.
