The Medical Faculty
The Medical Faculty is an integral part of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg and cooperates with the University Hospital Magdeburg A.ö.R.
in research, teaching and patient care. The research profile of the faculty is characterized by the two main focuses "Immunology including Molecular
Medicine of Inflammation" and "Neuroscience". Every year, about 185 students of human medicine and about 20 students of the master course of studies
in immunology are enrolled.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Our group aims to ellucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating the pathophysiology of brain tumors, in particular glioblastoma. Using in
vitro, in vivo and in situ approaches, the successfull candidate will characterize the bi-directional interactions between tumor cells and the immune
microenvironment, with a focus on myeloid cells and immune escape.
Master’s degree or equivalent in Life Sciences, ideally with a strong background in tumor biology and / or immunology
motivation, team spirit and enthusiasm for science
excellent command of written and spoken English
experience with in vivo studies on murine models is a plus, but not mandatory
modern research facilities and an interactive working environment
optimal support and mentorship
internal and external training courses
