Academic environment
The lecturer position is located at the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability (TUMCS) and is intended to provide decisive support for teaching in the field of “Economics”.
Responsibilities
The main task is the implementation and further development of teaching. Against the background of sustainability, climate change and the transition to a bio-based economy as central challenges of modern economies, the focus of teaching will be on the basics and selected specializations of economics. The lecturer covers course content from Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Environmental Economics and Industrial Economics and systematically links them with economic issues of the bioeconomy. A central element of teaching is to provide students with a sound understanding of how economic policy strategies, regulatory frameworks, and industrial policy instruments steer the development of sustainable technologies, markets, and value chains.
Teaching is mainly in English in the Bachelor's and Master's programs Bioeconomy and Sustainable Management and Technology at TUMCS with a teaching obligation of 15 semester hours per week. Existing compulsory modules in the fundamentals of economics (especially microeconomics and macroeconomics) should be implemented independently and developed further as well as supplementary, in-depth modules in environmental and industrial economics topics.
In addition to teaching, participation in academic self-administration and active participation in committees is expected. Thus, the lecturer is involved in the quality assurance and conceptual development of the economics degree programs at TUMCS. This includes contributions to internal quality assurance and accreditation processes as well as the coordination of the economic components of studies with interdisciplinary sustainability and technology modules. If desired, there is also the opportunity to get involved in research.
Qualifications
We are looking for a personality who can demonstrate special achievements in teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment. A university degree and an above-average doctorate in a relevant subject area or a comparable special pedagogical aptitude are required. Habilitation or habilitationlike achievements are welcome.
Our Offer
TUM offers excellent working conditions in a lively scientific community and is embedded in the excellent living and research environment of the Munich metropolitan region and Straubing. The environment at TUM is characterized by a cosmopolitan climate with English as the recognized working language.
The position is permanent, but the employment will initially be limited with remuneration according to TV-L up to E14. A permanent contract is made after a positive evaluation, which usually takes place after two years.

Gender equality is an important concern for TUM. That is why we expressly welcome applications from qualified women. The position is suitable for people with severe disabilities. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if they otherwise have essentially the same aptitude, competence and professional performance.
Please send meaningful applications (cover letter, curriculum vitae, qualification for teaching, relevant copies of certificates, etc.) by 15.07.2026, quoting the keyword "Economics", to:
