The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
Full Professor of Urology (salary group W3)
at the Department of Urology. This is a full-time and permanent position planned to be filled by October 1, 2027.
We seek to appoint an internationally recognized leader in urology, who will be responsible for research, teaching, and patient care, as well as managing the Department of Urology at Uniklinikum Erlangen. The department covers all aspects of urology, specializing particularly in the areas of kidney transplants, urological oncology, and pediatric urology.
We seek to appoint a candidate with many years’ management experience in both clinical and scientific settings, who takes a goal-oriented and staff-oriented approach to managing a hospital department and who will advance existing areas of specialization. We expect outstanding achievements in research and teaching, including success in acquiring third-party funding and internationally visible scientific achievements.
That apart, the successful candidate will be expected to play an active part in scientific collaborations with research consortia (including BZKF, CCC WERA, NCT WERA and DZI), Collaborative Research Centers and Research Training Groups at the Faculty of Medicine, the university, and other organizational units of Uniklinikum and FAU.
The professor will be expected to teach in the degree programs at the Faculty of Medicine. Degree programs at the faculty include, in particular, Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, Medical Process Management, Logopedics, Midwifery Sciences, and, in collaboration with other faculties, Medical Engineering and Integrated Immunology. Teaching obligations are in line with the Teaching Regulations for Bavarian Universities (LUFV).
The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record in research and teaching. They are required to have a university degree and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and additional postdoctoral qualifications (either a habilitation or equivalent academic qualifications). These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as assistant professor). Candidates must provide evidence of a license to practice medicine with specialist training in urology and proven expertise in operative urology, particularly in robot-assisted procedures.
The successful candidate is expected to carry out administrative duties and take a proactive approach to raising third-party funding. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are preferred.
