The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
Full Professor of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Medizincampus Oberfranken (salary group W3)
This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
Medizincampus Oberfranken is an innovative collaboration between FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Uniklinikum Erlangen, Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH, and the University of Bayreuth aimed at establishing clinical and research-based medical training in Bayreuth under the guidance of FAU’s Faculty of Medicine.
The professor will be responsible for teaching, research, and patient care at Medizincampus Oberfranken. We expect the successful candidate to become actively involved in establishing medical training and expanding research activities in the area of psychiatry and psychotherapy in interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues from Medizincampus Oberfranken and from FAU in Erlangen, where a wide range of research associations are based.
The professorship will also entail the position as head of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics (279 beds distributed over 16 separate wards, 48 day hospital places, and approximately 2200 outpatients / quarter) at Bezirkskrankenhaus Bayreuth, representing the whole field. Candidates should have many years of clinical experience in a leading position, scientific expertise, and experience in teaching across the whole spectrum of psychiatry and psychotherapy.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record in research and teaching. They are required to have a university degree and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and additional postdoctoral qualifications (either a habilitation or equivalent academic qualifications). These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as assistant professor). Candidates must provide evidence of a license to practice medicine in the field of psychiatry and psychotherapy.
The successful candidate is expected to carry out administrative duties and take a proactive approach to raising third-party funding. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.
