The Faculty of Science at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a
W3-Professorship in Pathogen-Host Evolution
at the Interfaculty Institute of Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen (IMIT)
starting as soon as possible.
The future holder of this position will be responsible for independently representing the field of pathogen-host evolution in both research and teaching.
The professorship is embedded in the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2124 “Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections- (CMFI), which investigates functional interactions within complex microbial communities - the microbiomes - and the interactions between microbiome bacteria and the host, ranging from fundamental to clinical applications. The professor is expected to have an international track record in the cluster-s research topics as well as in securing substantial non-university research funding.
The research focus should be on the evolution and adaptation of significant human-pathogenic bacterial infectious agents in the context of pathogen-host interactions. Expertise in experimental infection and colonization models is desirable.
The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2124, as well as in other research networks of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF). Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
