In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the Department of Computer Science, the following professorship is to be filled as soon as possible:

W2–University Professorship (f/m/d) for Natural Language Processing

The Department of Computer Science at Paderborn University focuses on five strategic research directions: data science, domain-specific computing, security, quantum computing and software engineering. To further strengthen the area of data science, we are looking for an excellent researcher in natural language processing.

Scientific qualification should be demonstrated by publications in internationally leading conferences and journals in natural language processing. Moreover, we expect applicants to have experience with acquiring and conducting third-party funding projects, such as DFG projects. Successful candidates are expected to actively take part in proposals for collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects and to participate in existing projects and research centers. Paderborn University offers several possibilities for that, such as the Software Innovation Campus Paderborn (SICP), the Heinz Nixdorf Institute (HNI), and the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC2).

We expect the ability and willingness to teach courses in data science within the degree programs of computer science and computer engineering, the willingness to teach courses in German and English within 2 years of the hire, as well as the willingness to participate in the academic self-administration.

With 11 interdisciplinary research institutions and participation in 5 collaborative research centers (4 in spokesperson function), 1 DFG research group, 6 graduate colleges and 2 DFG priority programs, Paderborn University is the ideal environment for implementing bold research ideas. Recruitment requirements: § 36 Abs. 1 Ziff. 1 to 4 HG NRW (University law of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia) (completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, Ph.D. degree and additional academic achievements).
