University Professorship (W3) „Chemistry and process engineering of energetic materials“
The person appointed (f/m/d) will represent the fields of chemistry and process engineering of energy materials in research and chemical engineering in teaching. This professorship is associated to a deputy management position in the operational department “Energetic Materials” at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) in Pfinztal.
The professorship is expected to contribute to engineering and the natural sciences, particularly with regard to the fundamental chemical, reaction and process engineering aspects of developing, synthesising, characterising and processing new energetic materials. The focus will be on developing a molecular understanding of the structure-property relationships of energetic materials, modern synthesis and processing methods, and safety-relevant properties and concepts.
As part of the teaching duties, we expect you to contribute to the elective courses offered by the KIT Department of Chemical and Process Engineering in the bachelor's program and in the master's program in Chemical and Process Engineering. In line with KIT's research-oriented teaching approach, these courses should cover basic topics and specific applications of process engineering of energetic materials, as well as current developments from the aforementioned research topics. The teaching obligation associated with the professorship is 2 SWS.
Personal qualification
Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 47 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges).
We are looking for someone who is cooperative and communicative, with extensive experience in the listed areas of focus, and an excellent track record of scientific achievements with international visibility, or equivalent industry experience. Furthermore, excellent teaching skills, leadership experience, management experience, and the ability to work in a team are required. The future professor is expected to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and actively participate in academic self-administration, as well as having the ability to actively solicit public and private third-party funding.
