of
PSYCHOTHERAPY RESERACH
at the Department of Organization and Learning at the Faculty of Business and Management.
This position is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities’ Act (Universitätsgesetz - UG), based on a civil-law employment contract with the University on the basis of the Salaried Employees Act (Angestelltengesetz). The contract is permanent, with full-time employment (100%).
Responsibilities at the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Sport Science. It is a position in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities’ Act (Universitätsgesetz - UG) and will be based on a civil-law employment contract with the University on the basis of the Salaried Employees Act (Angestelltengesetz). The contract is permanent, with full-time employment (100%). Responsibilities Representing the field of “Psychotherapy Research” in research and teaching. The Chair of “Psychotherapy Research,” with a focus on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy, is affiliated with the new Master’s program in Psychotherapy at the faculty in cooperation with the Medical University of Innsbruck and will conduct independent research and teach within the framework of the established curriculum. The Chair of “Psychotherapy Research,” with a focus on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy, is intended to set new, forward-looking priorities within the context of the new master’s program in psychotherapy at this location and to strengthen the profile of the Institute of Psychology and the Research Center “Health and Prevention Across the Lifespan”. The professorship is intended to help raise the profile of the Institute of Psychology and the aforementioned research center by systematically expanding psychodynamically informed research on prevention and health promotion. The research will focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy based on the biopsychosocial model. Close collaboration is expected with the other planned chairs in psychotherapy at the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck, as well as with all departments within the Institute of Psychology; in particular, seamless collaboration is expected with the Clinical Psychology I and II divisions and other departments at the University of Innsbruck, such as the Department of Educational Sciences. In the curriculum, the subject of “Psychotherapy Research,” with a focus on “psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy,” is to be covered in the relevant degree programs offered by the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science. In addition, participation in the planned Master’s program in “Psychotherapy” is required. The professorship’s responsibilities include playing a substantial role in shaping and collaborating on the redesign of psychotherapy training at the University of Innsbruck, in cooperation with the newly established Chair of Psychotherapy with a focus on behavioral therapy at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Active participation in academic self-governance and in working groups at the department and faculty levels is another integral part of this professorship. Employment requirements include
- a degree in higher education in Austria or the equivalent abroad, pertinent to the position;
- a relevant habilitation or an equivalent qualification (e.g., Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor);
- completion of psychotherapy training in a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapeutic method in accordance with the Austrian Psychotherapy Act. For applicants from abroad, equivalence must be verified if necessary;
- publications in leading international peer-reviewed academic journals;
- strong methodological expertise (mixed methods, biopsychosocial) and established research experience in the field of psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy;
- ability to collaborate with the Clinical Psychology departments at the Institute of Psychology;
- evidence of involvement in international research
- interdisciplinary work in the field of psychotherapy research
- several years of relevant professional experience outside of academia;
- relevant international experience
- experience in the acquisition and management of competitive third-party funding;
- pronounced teaching skills;
- management skills;
- the ability to teach courses in German and English.
- a CV detailing academic and professional background;
- Proof of completion of psychotherapy training in a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapeutic approach in accordance with the Austrian Psychotherapy Act. For applicants from abroad, equivalence may need to be verified;
- Proof of several years of relevant professional experience outside of academia
- a list of academic publications, lectures, and other scholarly work and projects, including third-party funded projects by indicating the own contribution, the type of funding acquisition (competitive/non-competitive), and the role in the application process;
- a description of completed, ongoing, and planned research;
- a teaching concept (full text); and the five most relevant publications (full text as pdf file).
