The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna comprises, beside the Dean’s office and the StudyServiceCenter, four Departments. The research group Clinical Psychology of Adulthood (headed by Prof. Urs Nater) at the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology investigates the relationship between stress and reproductive mental health as part of the “Stress, Sex, and Hormones” research area. A key methodological focus is on outpatient assessment research approaches. We offer excellent research opportunities (including a newly established biochemical laboratory and a psychophysiological laboratory, both equipped with state-of-the-art technology), as well as international collaborations and intensive support for early-career researchers. Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant prae doc, you will complement the research team and take over tasks such as:

  • Planning and execution of empirical studies.
  • Statistical Analysis of Multilevel Data.
  • Presentation of research results at national and international conferences.
  • Publication of research results in international scientific Journals.
  • Participation in the acquisition of new research projects.
  • Participation in the faculty’s and department’s administration.

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You participate in research projects / research studies. Contributions to publications / scientific articles / presentations.
  • You contribute to the core research areas of the Clinical Psychology of Adulthood research group, particularly in the areas of stress and reproductive mental health.
  • We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 6-12 months.
  • You participate in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective Agreement.
  • You supervise students.
  • You are involved in the organization of meetings, conferences, and symposia.

This is part of your personality:

  • Master's Degree or diploma, preferably in psychology.
  • Strong interest in research in the field of Clinical Psychology of Adulthood, particularly on the topics of stress and reproductive mental health.
  • Very good knowledge in the field of reproductive mental health as well as stress management and quantitative data analysis methods, particularly in the field of psychoneuroendocrinology.
  • Ability to present and address research questions in a structured manner.
  • Previous experience in planning and conducting ambulatory assessment studies in the field of stress and reproductive mental health.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • High level of commitment and initiative.
  • Very good command of written and spoken English.

Desirable qualifications are:

  • Teaching Experience / Experience with E-Learning.
  • Knowledge of university procedures and structures.
  • Experiences abroad.
  • Initial experience in scientific work (e.g., conducting stress tests).
  • Experience with biochemical analyses (e.g., stress hormones).

The basic salary of EUR 3.776,10 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.
