Your Tasks

Research The tenure-track professorship "Organometallic Chemistry" is intended to contribute to the diverse activities of the institutes and programs at KIT. Organometallic chemistry at KIT addresses, among other things, core areas in the fields of photochemistry or electrochemistry, in particular with a focus on molecular systems for applications in a biological and chemical context. Aspects of digitalization in chemistry (use of digital methods in research and teaching, automation and robotics, and/or machine learning/chemical informatics) are welcome, in addition to experimental approaches.

In particular, the research is integrated into the KIT programs "Materials System Engineering" (program-oriented funding period POF IV) or rather "Information-Driven Materials Systems Discovery" and "Biological and Artificial Intelligence: Learning from Living Systems" (Program oriented Funding Period, POF V) in the Research Field Helmholtz Information.

You will perform university duties with a teaching obligation of 4 SWS, and if you are positively evaluated, of 6 SWS.

Your Profile

Acquired funding for a junior research group (e.g. DFG Emmy Noether Group, Helmholtz Young Investigators Group, ERC Starting Grant or junior research groups from ministries (esp. BMFTR)) is required. Less than half of the funding period has expired at the time of publication of this advertisement. Equivalent can also be corresponding transferable third-party funded projects.

You completed your studies and doctorate with outstanding results. Ideally, you gained initial experience in industrial or academic research after completing your doctorate and acquired skills in university teaching. You have internationally visible scientific achievements. Initial experience in the acquisition of third-party funding or industry-related research is an advantage. In addition to scientific excellence, you have the ability to work in a team, strong communication skills and the willingness to take on responsibility.

Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 51 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges) as well as the Quality Assurance Concept for Junior Professorships and Tenure-Track Professorships at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Employment is planned for six years as a temporary civil servant or as an employee; an interim evaluation is carried out before the end of the third year of service. The evaluation procedure and the general evaluation criteria follow the quality assurance concept for junior professorships and tenure-track professorships at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

The following subject-specific points are of particular importance for the interim and final evaluation: independence and originality of research as well as scientific visibility, publications in renowned journals with peer review, competitive acquisition of third-party funding, excellent teaching evaluations, successful supervision of theses (B.Sc./M.Sc.) and doctoral students, as well as active participation in academic committees. To develop your career, an accompanying program and mentoring are offered.

If the final evaluation is positive, a permanent university professorship (W3) will be appointed.

At the end of the junior professorship period, we expect achievements in research, teaching and innovation equivalent to habilitation.

Salary
Salary is determined by the statutory provisions of the state of Baden-Württemberg and corresponds to the basic salary of pay grade W1 (civil service pay scale).
In addition, allowances may be awarded. Where applicable, a family allowance is paid in accordance with civil service regulations.

Contract Duration
The position is for six years, either as a fixed-term civil service appointment (Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit) or as an employment contract; an interim evaluation will take place before the end of the third year.

The evaluation process and the general evaluation criteria follow the Quality assurance concept for junior professorships and tenure-track professorships at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). In case of a positive final evaluation, you will be offered a full university professorship (W3).
