Tübingen
Faculty of Science
invites applications for the position of
Tenure-Track Professor (W1 to W3)
in Probability and Statistics
The position is due to commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate should
have an internationally recognized research profile in modern topics within the broad
field of probability theory, stochastic processes and/or mathematical statistics. Aside from
research, the professorship will also play a vital role in the teaching of the bachelor’s
and master’s programs in the department of mathematics and will represent the field of
probability and statistics in teaching on a broad scale.
The successful candidate is expected to be actively integrated into the University of Tübingen’s research landscape, for instance through joint externally funded projects and collaboration within the Department of Mathematics as well as with related departments at the University of Tübingen. The successful candidate’s previous and planned research activities should therefore demonstrate potential for a thematic connection to the University of Tübingen. Furthermore, appropriate participation in teaching duties and in the academic self-governance of the Department of Mathematics and the Faculty of Science is expected.
Required qualifications include an outstanding doctoral thesis in a pertinent field, recognizable potential for internationally visible publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals, successful grant applications, and teaching experience. The appointment prerequisites of § 51 LHG apply.
If the final evaluation after six years is positive, this professorship will be upgraded to a full (W3) professorship with no re-advertising of the position.
Detailed information on the criteria underlying the interim evaluation and promotion to the tenured position may be found in our guidelines for tenure review under the following link: https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/12271. There you can also find information on this employment category.
Those who have completed a habilitation or have a comparable qualification will be excluded.
Applicants for a Tenure-Track professorship with a PhD from Tübingen must have changed universities after completing their doctorates or have worked in academia and/or research for at least two years somewhere other than the University of Tübingen.
The University of Tübingen is committed to equity and diversity and actively promotes equal opportunities.
