In terms of teaching, the professorship should cover the design, construction, building, and maintenance of transport facilities (road and rail) and their environmental impacts. The teaching modules will be offered in the faculty's German-language degree programs (Civil Engineering, Real Estate Technology and Real Estate Management, Environmental Engineering, Transport Engineering) and in the English-language master's program in Infrastructure Planning. The successful candidate is also expected to temporarily take on the role of Dean of Studies for Transport Engineering and Infrastructure Planning.
In terms of research, the professorship will cover the field of “Planning and design of road traffic facilities (outside and inside built-up areas)” as well as other areas listed below.
- Planning and design of rail transport facilities,
- Construction, maintenance, and operation as a pavement management system,
- New technologies (e.g., innovative materials, circular construction) and digitalization (e.g., superstructure modeling, digital twins),
- Traffic safety,
- Environment and sustainability (e.g., climate adaptation/protection, noise protection, air pollution control).
The professorship involves heading a department and jointly managing the Institute for Road and Transport Science.
We are looking for a nationally and internationally renowned academic person in this field for research and teaching, who has outstanding specialist knowledge and practical engineering experience in the design and construction of transport infrastructure.
For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page in total. Possible successes may include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development or spin-offs.
