The Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences conducts fundamental and applied research in fields spanning medical radiation physics, hearing science, psychoacoustics, virtual acoustics, machine learning and signal processing. Our internationally renowned research profile is reflected in numerous grants and collaborations with leading academic and industry partners. The department offers state-of-the-art experimental facilities and computing resources, creating an inspiring environment for innovative research and teaching. Your tasks
- The focus area of your new position is medical physics with a focus on technical and experimental audiology. You strengthen the department's research and teaching in a team-oriented manner.
- You are involved in the continuation and further development of the research focal point Hearing Research.
- You actively contribute to the strategic cooperation between the University of Oldenburg and the affiliated institute Hörzentrum Oldenburg gGmbH, Fraunhofer IDMT Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology, and the above-named research consortia. - Since the universities of Oldenburg and Groningen (NL) are connected by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected.
- You mentor and promote the academic career development of students and employees.
- In teaching, you contribute to the core lecture programme of the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics, focussing on the study programs Physics, Medicine and Technology (PTM), Engineering Physics as well as Hearing Technology and Audiology. You offer courses in German and English.
- You participate in academic self-governance.

Required:
- You meet the appointment requirements specified in section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).
- You have a proven record in teaching and research in at least two of the following areas of experimental and technical audiology:
- Methods of experimental audiology
- Computational audiology
- Auditory perception and modelling
- Speech perception and modelling
- Speech or music processing.
- Your expertise needs to be compatible with the research topics of the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all.connects, the Collaborative Research Center CRC 1330 Hearing Acoustics and related research topics of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
- You demonstrate your research achievements in particular through international publications in the above-named areas of experimental and technical audiology.
- You have successfully acquired competitive third-party funding.
- You have a cooperative working style that promotes a diverse and equitable working environment.
- You have experience in mentoring and promoting academic career development.
- You demonstrate your ability to connect to the described research and teaching areas in a concept of max. 5 pages each.
- You have very good English language skills.
- You have good German language skills. If you do not have these skills, you are willing to acquire sufficient language skills within two years after appointment.
- You have competencies in technology transfer.
- You have teaching experiences with links to medicine or neurosciences.
