Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of
Professor (W1, tenure-track) of Social Psychology
at the newly founded Goethe Leadership Centre – Centre of Advanced Studies (GLC), funded by the German Research Foundation, at the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Sciences. This civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible.
This is a tenure-track position for an initial six-year term. If tenure is approved at the end of the term, the position will be made permanent and promotion to the rank of Full Professor (W2) will be granted (according to Hessian Higher Education Act [HessHG] § 70 para. 1, 2 and 4).
Professorship Profile
We are seeking individuals with internationally visible research in the field of social psychology, with a focus on social identity, leadership, and group processes.
The professor is a central part of GLC research; the professor will focus on core GLC themes and introduce new, complementary research topics. In this context, you will employ and supervise a doctoral researcher, funded by Goethe University; the doctoral researcher will collaborate with you on the relevant research. Together with the postdoctoral researchers, you will coordinate the fellowship programs for Junior Fellows. The professorship will also participate in the department's teaching activities offering courses in social psychology and organizational psychology amounting to 4 semester hours per week (SWS) per semester. Finally, you will contribute to the future development of the GLC beyond the initial funding period.
Your Profile
Prerequisites for application include a relevant doctorate in psychology or a related field, as well as excellent achievements in research and teaching, documented by corresponding publications and teaching evaluations.
Requirements for Appointment
This position is open to persons at an early stage of their academic career who have not yet completed additional academic achievements such as a habilitation or an equivalent qualification. The employment requirements as defined in §§ 68 and 70 of HessHG apply. Among other things, this includes proof of aptitude for academic work (e.g., a doctorate) and the subject-specific requirements listed under "Your profile" that are necessary for fulfilling the duties of the professorship.
