The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Professor
W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate/Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible. The professorship is endowed by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation.
Scientific environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, Department of Computer Engineering. It will be located at the TUM Campus Heilbronn and affiliated with the Center of Informatics. The Heilbronn region is a strong and successful high-tech region in Europe that offers a wide range of opportunities for collaboration and is home to various educational and research institutions.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Computer Architecture and Operating Systems with a focus on Heterogeneous Architectures as well as Reduced Operating Systems and Microkernels. Ideal candidates use HW/SW Codesign, e. g. based on RISC-V, to optimize software and hardware simultaneously. With regards to teaching, the professorship is expected to contribute to both required and elective courses in the Information Engineering bachelor’s and master’s programs and to assist in the development of new degree programs, such as the planned Master of Science in Microelectronics and Chip Design (working title).
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level (please see www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information).
A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
