About us
Our group is located at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) and is associated to the Max-Planck-Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen, Germany. Our research is aimed at understanding the mechanisms by which mitochondria build and shape their proteome. To study these systems, we combine cell biology with biochemical and biophysical approaches. For recent examples of our work, see PMID: 40403134, 40155273, 34672953, 39134548, 38199007 and 34588454.We offer access to state-of-the art instrumentation and technologies to address the molecular principles that drive protein transport. Göttingen is a vibrant, international student town located in the center of Germany and, in addition to its university, is home to a number of renowned research institutes, which together form the Göttingen Research Campus.
Position details
The position is fixed term (3 years) and the salary will be in accordance to the German Public Sector Collective Agreement (TV-L). The earliest starting date is June 1st 2026. Your tasks
- Combine cutting-edge yeast genetics, protein- and RNA biochemistry as well as cellular methods to dissect molecular principles of mitochondrial protein biogenesis.
- Drive your own research project in a collaborative team with close mentoring and supervision.
- Present & communicate research results at national and international scientific meetings.
- Gain experience in mentoring and teaching of students.
Your qualifications
- Applicants should hold a M.Sc. or equivalent degree in the life sciences or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in yeast biology, protein biochemistry is advantageous, but not required.
- Fluent English language skills (written and spoken) are required.
