The subject area of the professorship addresses sociology with a focus on digital transformation and social inequality at the Institute for Social Sciences. Suitable candidates must have an excellent doctoral thesis and further scholarly achievements in at least one of the fields of labour, economic, or organizational sociology, and their profile should fit the research and teaching profile of the Institute for Social Sciences. A focus on digital transformation and issues of social inequality and their empirical investigation in the respective area of specialization is expected.
The responsibilities of the post holder include the design and implementation of teaching in the social science bachelor's and master's programs in German (4 hours per term for the first four years, after a positive evaluation 6 hours per term), the supervision of theses, and an active role in academic administration and committees at the University of Stuttgart.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track record of promising scientific publications (e.g., in peer reviewed journals) with international visibility or who shows the potential to do so. Teaching skills and initial teaching experience in the field of economic, organizational, or sociology of work are required. The willingness to acquire third-party funding, to publish internationally, as well as to engage in science transfer is required. Initial experience in these areas would be desirable. The university supports grant applications.

Possible successes may include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer.

The position is scheduled to be filled on October 1st, 2027. The appointment will be for a fixed term of four years as a civil servant, with a potential extension of two years. At the end of the four-year-term of office, an evaluation will be carried out to determine suitability and competence as a university lecturer. With a positive evaluation, the appointment is extended for another two years.
