Junior Professor (W1 with tenure track to W3) of Organic Chemistry
The position is due to commence as soon as possible.
The successful candidate of the position should strengthen the research priorities of the Department of Chemistry by setting up an independent research group and actively participate in joint projects. We are looking for a personality with initial outstanding scientific achievements and an innovative profile that demonstrates the potential for a successful academic career at the highest international level.
The future holder of the position is expected to establish a cooperative research program for the innovative synthesis of application relevant organic molecules. The chemical research program of the professorship should allow for fruitful interaction with the joint projects of the Cluster of Excellence “Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections” (CMFI), to “Sustainable Development” of the Department of Chemistry, or the Center for Light-Matter Interaction, Sensors & Analytics (LISA+).
The successful candidate is expected to teach Organic Chemistry in the undergraduate and graduate programs in chemistry as well as in other study courses. The ability and willingness to teach in German (undergraduate level) and English (graduate level) is required. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation, and six hours thereafter. The willingness to participate in academic self-government at the Department of Chemistry is expected.
Required qualifications include an outstanding doctorate in a pertinent field, international publications, evidence of third-party grants (fellowship/scholarship) as well as teaching experience. The appointment prerequisites of § 51 LHG apply.
Applicants for a Tenure-Track professorship with a PhD from Tübingen must have changed universities after completing their doctorates or have worked in academia and/or research for at least two years somewhere other than the University of Tübingen.
This Tenure-Track position is subject to an interim evaluation after four years and a final evaluation after six years. If the final evaluation is positive, this professorship will be upgraded to a full (W3) professorship with no re-advertising of the position.
Those who have completed a habilitation will be excluded.
