Full Professorship (W 3) in Romance Linguistics

The Department of Linguistics seeks to fill this position by October 1, 2027.
The University of Konstanz is a dynamic and internationally successful research university with approximately 10,000 students. Applicants are expected to have an excellent track record in at least one core area of linguistics (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics or pragmatics), and a second specialization in another area of linguistics, preferably historical linguistics. The language of specialization must be French on the one hand, and Spanish on the other. Expertise in other Iberian or Gallo-Romance languages is desirable.
Teaching and examination duties primarily relate to Romance language degree programmes (BA and MA, teacher training) as well as the BA and MA programmes in General Linguistics and the doctoral programme. The willingness to teach courses in the Romance target languages is expected. Non-German-speaking job holders are expected to be able to teach courses in German after three years at the latest.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate academic achievements comparable to the level of the German Habilitation.
A good fit with the research agenda of the newly approved Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1760 Silence, Noise and Signal in Language and willingness to participate in this collaborative research enterprise as well as in other research networks of the Department of Linguistics and the University is expected.
