Data Steward (m/f/d) for the Cluster of Excellence Post Lithium Storage (POLiS)
The position is to be filled at the Center for Materials Research within the framework of the Cluster of Excellence Post Lithium Storage and is limited until June 30, 2029. The salary is in accordance with the collective labor agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).
Your tasks at a glance
- Development and implementation of FAIR-compliant data solutions and strategic concepts for the archiving, exchange, and analysis of research data from experimental and theoretical battery research
- Conception, implementation, and continuous further development of structures for quality assurance and documentation of research data, software tools, and scientific workflows
- Participation in the development and establishment of ontologies, metadata standards, and data models within the research data platform Kadi4Mat for the entire battery technology research chain (material description, synthesis, characterization, and modeling)
- Development and application of data analytical methods to address scientific questions in close cooperation with interdisciplinary research groups of the Cluster
- Advising Cluster researchers on research data management and FAIR data, as well as the conception and implementation of training courses and workshops
Your qualifications and competencies
- A successfully completed university degree (Diploma or Master-s) in Computer Science, Data Science, Materials Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a comparable field, including a completed PhD
- Sound experience in the field of research data management, data science, big data, or data-driven research
- Practical knowledge of programming and scripting languages, particularly Python, as well as experience in handling scientific data analysis tools
- Experience in dealing with metadata standards, ontologies, or data models in research data management is an advantage
- Subject matter expertise in materials science, battery research, or electrochemical energy storage
- Experience in the design, development, or operation of scientific IT and data infrastructures
- Strong communicative and organizational skills, as well as a confident, friendly, and reliable personality
- Very good proficiency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of German is desirable
