About us

Lancaster University invites applications for a full-time, indefinite Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Computer Science to join its ambitious and growing campus in Leipzig, Germany.

The successful candidate will ideally take up the appointment no later than January 2027.

We are seeking an outstanding academic to strengthen the research profile of the School of Computing and Communications and contribute to the continued development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, and Cyber Security.

Role description

The successful candidate will contribute to the University's research, teaching, and engagement activities by:

Developing a high-quality, internationally recognised research programme in Computer Science;
Publishing research in leading journals and conferences;
Pursuing external research funding opportunities;
Delivering excellent teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
Contributing to curriculum development through innovative, practice-oriented teaching approaches;
Supporting knowledge exchange, industry engagement, and public outreach activities;
Participating actively in the academic life of the department and wider University.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and possess a strong foundation in core areas of the field.

Your profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

An emerging or established record of high-quality research;
Experience of effective university-level teaching;
A commitment to student engagement and academic citizenship;
Evidence of outreach, knowledge exchange, professional service, or wider community engagement.
German language skills are not required for this position. However, we are particularly interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about building a long-term academic career at Lancaster University Leipzig.
