The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for the
Full Professorship (W3) of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
(Succession of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Pfanner)
at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to be filled by 1st October 2024.
The future holder of this position will represent the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
in research and teaching. She/he will be the director of the department I (Abteilung I).
Candidates should possess an excellent track record, including internationally recognized
research achievements with publications in leading journals, acquisition of peer-reviewed
external funding, experience in heading a scientific research group, and enthusiasm for
teaching biochemistry and molecular biology. She/he should complement and expand the
research portfolio of the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with up-to-date topics
in the field of basic biochemical and molecular biological research. Interdisciplinary collaborations,
active participation in research focus areas of the Faculty of Medicine, and participation
in research alliances of the University of Freiburg are expected.
Requirements for the appointment are compliance with the employment regulations for
professors, a university degree in a life science subject, teaching qualification, and a very
good doctorate degree. Applicants should have completed the Habilitation or possess an
equivalent scientific qualification (§ 47 Landeshochschulgesetz, LHG).
The position is tenured according to § 50 para 1 LHG.
